Monthly Residual Income

Pop quiz, what do the following companies have in common?
ATT wireless
Directv
PGE (Pacfic Gas & Electric)
Hostgator
I’ll give you a hint, it has to do with how they bill their customers. Do you give up? Well, the answer is each month, companies like: Directv, PGE and Hostgator bill their clients, each month they have a residual income.

Having residual income is as close to getting a steady paycheck as possible doing Internet marketing. Even in a down economy with a recurring income, your business can still thrive. If you are an affiliate marketer you will want to put in your sells pipeline products that have recurring billing; that way you make a sell once and continue to get a commission as long as the customer pays the monthly bills.

For many businesses residual income is their backbone. If you run an information-based business, I strongly suggest you consider pursuing residual income. Think about it, having a business and charging your customers a monthly fee for your services or access to your information. Imagine having multiple sites bringing in autopilot residual income.

For ideas on developing your own residual income products you need look no further than your inbox. You probably just like I do get all sorts of email offers on how to start your on membership site. Yes, membership sites are the most common way of creating residual income for those in the information based business.

You may be reading this and thinking, it sounds like a good idea but it is too much trouble to create.Well, maybe not, you could easily do any of the following suggestions:

Five ways for setting up a membership site

#1 Outsource The Content

By outsourcing you simply higher a ghostwriter, you pay the writer to create all the content you need on your behalf. With outsourcing, quickly establish with the ghostwriter that the content produced is yours to use as you see fit.

#2 Use Private Lable Rights (PLR)

There are plenty of good PLR sites such as easyplr.com, master-resell-rights.com and may others, however you should read carefully what you are allowed to do with the content before you purchase and if the written agreement meets with your needs, you can purchase the license to use the content as you wish.

#3 Repurpose Your Matterial

If you a have a blog or if you have an e-book, then you can reuse the material on your membership site. For instance, you could break your 110 page e-book into 8 to 10 lessons over a period of weeks, or break the ebook into many smaller articles you can also do the same with previously written articles on your blog.

#4 Teamup With A Writer

In Internet marketing not everyone possesses the same skills, you may not be a good writer but you may be good graphics or other things required task in online marketing. You could start a membership site with a writer as your partner, let them do the writing and you do everything else. With both of you splitting the profits 50-50 without you having to write a single word. It’s a win win proposition.

#5 Buy Ready-To-Go Membership

Purchasing a ready to go membership may be the best solution of the five examples given. If you can find a good quality ready to go membership site and the owner of the site is willing to sell you a license, this will make having your own membership site much easier. It would take most of the legwork away from setting it up your self.

I’m talking about buying a ready to go membership site. A site that offers a package with content, sales letter, marketing materials… everything that you need to get started today!

Email List Building Is Essential For Doing Online Business

In the movie Jerry Maguire, Tom Cruise plays a successful sports agent who gets fired. Upon learning of his dismissal from the agency Cruise scrambles to call the athletes he represented while with the agency. Jerry McGuire knew that the money was in the list and even after being fired he could survive if he could keep his lists, unfortunately in the movie only one client remained with Jerry Maguire. It’s not uncommon for professional people to leave their places of employment and start their own business because they can take their lists with them.

I remember when visiting the clinic I regularly attended and the doctor I saw on a regular basis informed me that he was leaving the clinic and starting his own private practice. Even though I was a patient of the clinic I was assigned to on of the list of one doctor and that doctor was working his list to build his private practice he wasn’t exactly starting with nothing he had assets to bring into his new business.

Most if not all successful Internet marketers will tell you their list is their most important asset. Have you ever bought anything online? Did you notice one of the first things that the merchant asked for is your e-mail address? Email list building is essential for doing online business, it makes doing business online much easier. Amazon.com and eBay are to excellent examples of companies who capture e-mail addresses and market to them, why? Because they know the money is in the buyers list, you can sell to them over and over.

How to build an email list
So if you don’t have a list and you want to do business online you need to start building your list immediately. If you’ve ever purchase anything online, in most cases before you even give your credit card number, you have given your e-mail address. The first thing you will need to do is establish a means of capturing e-mail addresses and have a system of sending mass e-mails to your list, you need an auto responder. There are plenty of auto responders to choose from but I recommend aweber. Once you signed with an auto responder you will need to create a way for people to opt in to the list.

Have something to give
Readers are reluctant to give their e-mail address, so you’ll have to entice them by giving them something in return for their e-mail address. A lot of Internet marketers offer free reports, if your business is retail you may offer a discount on goods to entice your audience to op in. It’s called an ethical bribe, other bribes could be a free e-mail course, free video, coupon codes, free ebook, audio presentation, webinar or webinar recording; these are just to mention a few bribes to get people to opt into your email list.

After people decide to accept your offer and become a member of your list, you need to define your target audience and send a welcome message. Have a message for you list, know who is and what they want, know their concerns and provide solutions. You need to have a message, you can make recommendations, and give them information about something they may not know.

Have an end game in mind before building your list. A coupled of questions you want to ask yourself before you start building a list: what does the audience want? Who am I trying to attract? Remember the goal is not to simply bill list but your goal is to market to that list with products they will be interested in and solve their problems. Both Amazon.com and eBay do an excellent job of marketing to their list. Both Amazon and eBay consistently send recommendations to their list based on the products that have been purchased in the past. When creating your lists you should have a sales funnel already established to market to your list. By a sales funnel I mean have related products that complement each other.

Have a place to for your leads to go once they opt in which means you will need a web site to host your offers. There are plenty of places to host your sites some are free, however I recommend going with paid hosting the site such as reliablewebs.com.

Other ways you can build your list you can have your own blog, ask your readers to opt in for weekly newsletters, you can do article marketing on article directories and in your authors resource box send your readers to an opt in page.

If you are doing business online no matter what your business model you need to build a list. You need to communicate with your list and sell yourself to your readers and like the doctor who started his practice got me to come with him because of him and the service he gave, your list will stay with you and buy based on your recommendation because of the value you provide.

What is Blog Curation?

Most if not all blog owners struggle from time to time with finding quality content to put on their blog. If you have a blog, I’m sure you have heard the term “content is king” and that is almost true, I would simply add one word to that quote “Quality content is king” and as a blogger I’m always looking for quality subjects for my views to read and hopefully be able to use. I know I’m not along in this ongoing quest for good content which is why I want to discuss something you may not have heard about yet. There is a type of blogging that seems to be gaining a lot of momentum and that is Blog Curation. Blog Curation is proving to be an effective form of blogging in any niche. In fact many large corporations use Blog Curation to increase their online presence, one very famous Blog Curation site is the Huffington Post once owned by Ariana Huffington, aol purchased her site for a tidy sum of $315,000,000, not a bad day at the office.

What is Blog Curation?
Blog Curation is when you take parts of an article written by someone else and you use it on your blog post, of course you properly site the source and the site you got the article from, give credit where credit is due and you add your own unique discussion around the article subject matter. In places like the Huffington Post the owners of the articles are happy to have their articles posted and curated because it gives them in most cases much wider exposure then they would have had without their article being curated. More and more blog sites are being created with the intend of curating niche topics.

What Blog Curation is Not
Blog Curation is not stealing someone else’s content. Since you are giving proper credit and placing the original author’s link in your post you are not stealing content, since you are curating what is written by the original author you are adding your own unique contribution to the topic so that means Blog Curation is not content duplication. So Google will not penalize you for content duplication, in fact, Google seems to approve of curating. It is completely legal and ethical and it is as simple as being able to cut and paste.

Some Advantages of Blog Curation
You have content written for you all you need to do is discuss it. If you pick a good source the research is done for you and reliable which give you creditability with your readers. You can often build a relationship with writers in your niche who may send you articles to post. Curating is simply to do and can save time and energy searching for quality content to blog about.

Conclusion
Not everyone will want to have a Blog Curation site but if struggle for quality content and you are not willing or able to hire someone to write blog post for you than maybe this is something you will want to take a closer look at, it couldn’t hurt. To see a video recording of a webinar click here

Mastering One Niche

There is an old saying “jack of all trades master of none”. That saying is used to describe someone who is involved in many things but has not specialized in any one thing, kind of like taking many college courses and not declaring a major. It’s good to know how to do a lot of things but the question I have for you is if you are running an online business is good business not to have a niche you are an expert in? In other words, can you as an internet marker have a site as a one stop shop without specializing in one market? If not why not, it works well for Wal-Mart?

In the 1980’s Kentucky Fried Chicken run a successful commercial add, “We do chicken right”. In the commercial KFC compared themselves with other fast food burger restaurants that also sold chicken products alone with their burgers and other stuff. KFC’s message was if you want chicken come to the people who specialize in doing chicken only; chicken was their niche and when you want chicken come to the chicken experts. You should pick one niche and become known for that niche.

If your business has not started to make money or the type of money you desire, it may be because you have too many irons in the fire and you lack focus. Most people spend their time spending their wheels and spending money jumping from project to project going nowhere. The reason why so many people fail in internet marketing is because they lack discipline and focus. If you pick one niche and dedicate yourself to learning everything you can about the niche and sharing that knowledge with visitors to your site you will become known as an expert in your field and the go to person.

Although super stores like Wal-Mart, Costco’s or a super website like Amazon.com are one stop shop places, most of us go to those places with an idea of what we want to buy. You will get repeat visits to your site because you will have established yourself as a go to person or an authority in your niche that will not happen if you haven’t picked one business and decided to master it.

Two things you should master
Whatever your niche there are two things you must either master yourself or outsource someone to help you with, those things are: (1) Driving traffic, everyone should know that without anyone visiting your site, they will not know who you are or what you have to offer. (2) Conversions, driving traffic is very important you must have prospects to sell to but what happens after they come to your site? Are you able to convert those tire kickers into buyers? If they don’t buy you are not making money, if you are not making money you are not in business.

If you can focus and master on driving traffic and conversions then you can sell anything even if your product isn’t the best product in the world.

Conclusion
Pick a niche one niche and be like KFC they were known for doing chicken right, in your niche become known as the expert and the one who does it right. Picking a niche and learning as much as you can about should give you focus which should give you the discipline to reframe from jumping from project to project before completing any of them and making any money.

Yes , you can be “a jack of all trades and a master of none” , yes can learn a lot of different things and not become an expert of anything, which means you will not have established yourself as the authority in any niche and you will likely miss out on a lot of targeted traffic.

6 reasons why Internet marketers should strongly consider publishing on Kindle

If you’re an Internet marketer you should seriously consider writing and publishing on Kindle. You don’t have to be Shakespeare to get published on Kindle; you just need to publish good content. By good content I mean material that is informative and gives the consumer the information he or she is looking for. Even if you’ve never written anything longer than a grocery list you should still strongly consider publishing on the Kindle.

Why should consider publishing on Kindle:

(1) 44% of those who purchase a Kindle make more than $80,000 a year
Follow the money; you want to know that people you are presenting to are not just a bunch of tire kickers with no money but people with enough disposable income to purchase your products or affiliate recommendations.

Other advantages of publishing on the Kindle

• Publishing on Kindle can make you money without a merchant account

• You don’t need a website

• You don’t need a list

• You don’t need shopping cart

• It costs nothing to set up the Kindle account

• It cost nothing to publish

• And best of all it’s all passive income

(2) The Amazon Kindle is experiencing tremendous growth

During one Christmas holiday season Amazon sold over 1 million copies of the Kindle. Sales of the Kindle were not only strong in the United States but also England, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. There is a huge international desire for this small electronic device and a hunger for digital information.

Over 80% of parents approve of their children reading of some kind of digital e-reader. It’s predicted that most kids in the future will learn to read off of some type of digital device such as the Kindle or the Nook. You want to put your content in front of as many eyeballs as possible which is why publishing on the Kindle makes perfect business sense.

(3) A hungry market

With a hungry market people will be diligently seeking information to put on their reading device. If your content meets their needs you’ll have a ready-made market. Since the consumer can get information instantly this has created an insatiable need of information and the prices being priced at an impulse buy level, people are more inclined to buy.

(4) Find your audience

No matter what business you’re in, if there’s a demand for your product or services then there is an audience looking for you. You need to make sure that consumers find you and what you have to offer.

Publish an e-book, use the book to introduce them about your services or products, provide a link so they can go to your website and offer them a free report or even better offer a free physical gift which will get them to give your their physical address (you will find that after a while many on your email list will tune you out and if not unsubscribe simply not open your emails, so by getting their physical home address you have another way of contacting you). Just think you can sell them your content, get them on your email list and promote to them other products and hopefully retain them as a repeat customer for years to come.

Note: while the Kindle is not a fully functioning laptop computer it does have limited capabilities of clicking on a link to a website.
Also note that not everyone who reads your content will not be reading from a basic Kindle but may have downloaded an app to view from a smart phone which is capable of opening a link, or the reader can also download the Kindle to a computer also.

(5) Be viewed as an expert in your field

There is something about being a published author that gives you instant credibility. The Kindle makes it easy to become a published author and to increase your stature in Internet marketing. Once you’ve put your book together, you can have it uploaded to the Kindle site within an hour. If your book is in English you can have it up as fast as 24 hours, books and other languages may take a bit longer.

(6) Getting published on Kindle is easy

Imagine you can be published within 24 hours, upload your book and cover, fill out a form and write a description. It’s not nearly as complicated as the traditional way of getting published and is much cheaper; also, you don’t have to keep a garage full of unsold textbooks.

So there you have it, getting published on Amazon really is not that difficult and the upside far outweighs any negatives that you could think of. Also Amazon will help you sell your books in the Kindle bookstore. Your book can be included in the recommendations that Amazon makes to his customer’s purchasing related topics. So again I urge you to strongly consider publishing on the Kindle.
